Friths: 50th wedding anniversary
The ?Frith?s Fabulous Fiftieth Fling? adventure began on Jan. 27, 1968, when Bob and Linda Frith were married at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Scottsdale, the fortunate result of a chance encounter while they were attending Arizona State University.
Their life together took them to Scottsdale, Austin, Texas, Chicago, and back to Scottsdale before they retired to Prescott in 2005. Their two wonderful daughters, Kristin and Kelly, along with their husbands and grandchildren, celebrated this ?Fabulous Fiftieth Fling? with a cruise over New Year?s week.
Kristin and her husband Adam and their three children, Kamala (age 12), Leia (age 7) and Dylan (age 17 months) live in Northern California. Kelly and her husband Scott live in Santa Fe. Having the family together to celebrate this milestone was a major highlight in their lives.

Dear Annie: Just a touch from the opposite sex
Dear Annie: In this new (and long-overdue) era of ?#MeToo,? I?m wondering: Is it always inappropriate to lightly touch the arm of an opposite-sex acquaintance during a casual conversation? I?m not talking about prolonged or repeated touches. I just mean a spontaneous and quick touch. I realize that some people may find such action sexually egregious, but in general, I think such touching is an expression to help emphasize humor, compassion, sincerity or understanding. Personally, I think I?m pretty good at judging whether it?s appropriate for me to touch an acquaintance in such a manner, but my wife insists that it?s never appropriate. Occasionally, I?m on the receiving end of such touching, and I don?t find it offensive. Comment, please? ? Confused in the Midwest

Citi Bus ends its run today
Facing an annual loss of more than $50,000, Prescott Transit Authority is officially out of the Citi Bus business.
The company announced over the weekend that it is stopping its Citi Bus service today, Jan. 31.
For decades, the privately-funded Citi Bus has carried passengers to Prescott?s shopping centers, schools and offices. Its closure means that residents who depended on the service, for nearly 30,000 rides a year, will have to find new ways to get around Prescott.
?Our company can no longer fund this service on its own,? Steve Silvernale, owner of Prescott Transit Authority, announced in a Jan. 26 news release.
The bus service dates back to the 1920s, when it was known as the Prescott Whipple Stage and carried soldiers from Fort Whipple (now the VA Medical Center) to downtown Prescott.

Talk about stepping on one’s message.
Schmoozing in the House chamber after delivering his maiden State of the Union speech, a hot mic caught President Donald Trump telling a Republican lawmaker that he was “100 percent” in favor of making public a classified Republican intelligence memo. That was further than the White House had gone on the matter and not something Trump had said during the hour-plus speech he had finished moments earlier.
In the C-SPAN video, Rep. Jeff Duncan, R-S.C., urged Trump to release the memo. Trump, with a microphone nearby, can be heard saying, “Don’t worry, 100 percent.”

San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo will endorse Antonio Villaraigosa for governor on Wednesday, in the first major endorsement for the former Los Angeles Mayor from a Bay Area elected official.
“I’m proud to endorse Antonio Villaraigosa for governor of California,” Liccardo said in a statement to the Bay Area News Group. “I look forward to working with him to tackle the economic divide we face in the state, including the issue of a lack of affordable housing. I believe Antonio’s record of building coalitions and his pragmatic approach is what the state needs to create economic equality and opportunity.”
